Dark. The absence of light in a place. As a child, I can remember being afraid of the dark. At bedtime, the lights went out. The television went off. It was dark. No light anywhere. The only place I knew to find comfort or relief from the darkness was to run to my mom’s room. I’d crawl in the bed with her and I felt safe. It was still dark, but I had found comfort knowing that I wasn’t alone! That’s what I want you to see today. You are definitely going to experience some dark places in your life, but take comfort in knowing that you are not alone!
The Psalmist David said in Psalms 23:4, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the SHADOW of death, I will fear no evil; For YOU are WITH me… (NKJV)” David here lets us know that in life there WILL be dark places. Shadows are dark. They’re mysterious. They may make you uncomfortable. The shadow of depression. The shadow of anxiety. The shadow of losing a job. The shadow of sickness. So many dark shadows. But there’s good news! Where there is a shadow, there is light. In every dark place in your life, JESUS is already there! HE is that light! Be encouraged and know that whatever dark place you are in right now, He’s there! He’s bigger and stronger than any shadow that you’re facing right now!
Just like I ran to my mom’s room as a child to escape the dark, you can run to Jesus! He will protect you. He will comfort you. Proverbs 18:10 says that “The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous run to it and are safe!” Stop magnifying your dark place and magnify Jesus, who is the light that will eliminate every dark place in your life! Don’t be afraid of the dark. You have to trust Him even in those times. Don’t lose hope. Don’t allow your faith to waver. Close your eyes and take His hand. Let Him lead you through the dark valleys. He’s already there.
I pray that you are encouraged after reading this. Please like, share and reblog this so that someone else would be encouraged in their dark places. And if we’re not connected on social media, follow me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @wtt41. May God bless and keep you is my prayer.
Until next week…..
