Are you willing to pay the price?

Discounts, percents off, clearance, B.O.G.O.  These are all things that catches the eyes of consumers.  One thing that everybody loves is a good sale.  Some say “the cheaper, the better.”  Getting quality merchandise for little money.  That’s the ticket!  After all, who wants to pay a lot for something that you can get elsewhere for less?!  Then, there are certain items or brands that seemingly never go on sale.  They’re always at retail price.  Some stores that I shop at personally, showcase clothing that is always high-priced and those prices never come down.  It’s non-negotiable.  They don’t sway.  They don’t budge.  And I say to myself, “I really want this.  But, am I willing to pay the price for it?”

So it is with the anointing of God.  We say we want it, but are we actually willing to pay the price for it?  Salvation is free, but the anointing COSTS!  Let’s take a look at scripture.

Romans 12:1 KJV says, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

Now let’s look at the Amplified Bible Version:  “I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting ALL your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.”

Jesus has always demanded one’s all in following him. He never made an exception. If he ever did, it would have been the time a rich young man came to follow Jesus. Outwardly the man had all the trappings that would make for a great follower. Inwardly, however, he was holding back. Jesus recognized that. He will not accept a partial commitment. He didn’t then; he doesn’t now. The Apostle Paul provides a theological framework for what it means to follow Christ totally and the consequential changes it makes in a person’s life.

Have you ever done the hokey pokey? It’s that little song and dance that tells us to put our left arm or right leg or some other body part of our body into the circle, shake it, and then “turn yourself about.” It’s an active and sometimes tiring little exercise that ends with the command, “Put your whole self in …” “To present your bodies” is Paul’s way of saying, “Put your whole self in.” The song and dance routine we call worship involves offering our whole person to God. That’s more difficult than the dance routine.

Are you willing to pay the price of putting your “whole self in?”  Who wants to be in a relationship with someone who’s only a “part-time lover?”  That’s a lop-sided relationship.  If Jesus put his “whole self” in on the cross, Paul says here that we should pay the price by putting our “whole selves” in a lifestyle of holiness and worship.  But again I ask, are you WILLING to pay that price?

Receiving the more of God requires you giving Him the more of you!  Know that you can not possess a greater anointing, more power, miracles, signs and wonders if He does not have ALL of you!  HE WANTS IT ALL!  You can’t walk heavy in the prophetic if you’re not willing to sacrifice the time in prayer and seeking His face and let Him speak to you.  You want to operate in the spiritual gift of healing and the laying on of hands, and other spiritual gifts?  Then PAY THE PRICE!

Too often we just sit in services all over this universe and ‘wait for the power to fall’ so that we can operate in gifts and appear ‘deep.’  That’s not the way this works!  The most anointed people have given of themselves.  They’ve gone through lots of pain.  They’ve sacrificed in ways that we would never know.  These individuals don’t have to wait for the anointing to fall because they CARRY IT!  They’ve paid for it! It’s evident!

My sister Abby and brother Mark make fun of our younger brother John (jokingly) because he gets so caught up in the Holy Spirit.  God uses him to minister and prophecy and lay hands.  We mess with him and laugh about it.  I’m mentioning this because Pastor John has been anointed by God and it’s EVIDENT!  And an anointing like that had to be paid for!!!  Not that the others aren’t anointed, God just uses John in a more vocal and tangible way.  He carrys the anointing of his parents (Drs. Curt and Linda Stennis)

Then there are others who preach/teach and can’t make a headache go away!  Why?  Because there has been no payment!  There’s just a self imposed title.  An anointed man/woman bears fruit that shows!

We’re living in a time where men and women are looking for supernatural occurences to happen through them.  And that’s a good thing!  However, if you haven’t paid the price, don’t expect it to come through you!  It doesn’t matter what title you carry, the anointing speaks for itself.  And for many, sadly, it isn’t speaking at all!

Therefore, do the work!  Spend the time!  Pay the price!  You can have it but it’s going to cost.  And what is the cost?  The cost is YOU!  All of you.

Well, that’s it for this week. I pray that today’s blog has pushed you to go after God like never before!  The anointing isn’t just for church services on Sunday (or whatever day you worship on) It’s for a life time that compliments a life style.  You can have it.  You just have to pay for it.

Until next week….
