Faith Is an Action Word

One definition of the word “faith” as described by the Merriam-Webster dictionary is, belief and trust in and loyalty to God; firm belief in something for which there is no proof.  Hebrews 11:1, The Living Bible version says “What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead.”  Faith is believing in that which one can not see.  It’s belief in the seemingly impossible.  It’s knowing that “it” IS going to happen! Whatever your ‘it’ is.  Faith says “God, I don’t know how but I BELIEVE YOU!”  Faith is trusting.  Faith is believing.  Faith is an ACTION word! Saying that we have faith is simply not enough.  We must put that faith into action.  James 2:26 says that faith without works (action) is dead (without effect).

One of the greatest examples of faith is from Abraham in Genesis chapter 22. In the New King James Version, the first verse says that God TESTED Abraham.  Abraham is known as the Father of Faith.  And now, this faith was to be tested. A faith that has not been tested, is a faith that can not be trusted!  As you continue to read this chapter, you’ll see Abraham’s faith in action.  Faith is an action word!  He didn’t merely say that he had faith, he exemplified it.  He put his faith into action.  God told him to take his son, his ONLY son, to Mt. Moriah and kill (sacrifice) him.  Abraham didn’t exchange a word.  He began to MOVE! In what seemingly was the absolute worst day of a father’s life, he (Abraham) trusted God.  Remember Hebrews 11:1, Abraham was certain that hope was waiting for him even though he couldn’t see it ahead.  Upon arriving at the place of sacrifice, Abraham told the men that were wtih him, in verse 5, “the boy and I will travel a little farther. We will worship there, and then we will come right back.”  He wasn’t certain of the outcome but he yet had faith!  Abraham put his faith into action and the Lord provided the sacrifice.  Anytime you trust God and move by faith, He responds!  God is obligated to respond to faith!  Hebrews 11:6 lets us know that without FAITH it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God!

So, in closing, I want to push you.  Whatever your dreams are, whatever your vision is, act in faith and go after it!  Be assured and confident that what you want IS GOING TO HAPPEN!  Open that business.  Get that degree.  Write that book.  Faith can not work if the thoughts, dreams, visions stay in your head.  Speak it and get to work!  Do the research.  Show God that you mean business!  Put some work behind your faith and watch God move!!!  Pursue it!  HE RESPONDS TO FAITH!  I used to hear Pastor Deandre Patterson say all the time, “don’t believe what you see, but see what you believe!”  That’s faith!  MOVE!  Faith is an action word!!!

I pray that this blog has blessed and encouraged you today.  It’s the will of God that we live a life of abundance but you’ve got to have faith to believe it and live it.

P.S. Let’s be in prayer for our world.  I saw the news of this slave trade that’s happening in Libya.  It’s a sad case.  But I believe that the prayers of the righteous can turn this thing around.  God is yet in control and HE will get the glory out of even this!

Until next week…..
